JKAiD Hope Foundation Sponsors Life-Saving Surgery for Baby Bertha
The Foundation has committed to fully cover the surgery and post-operative care of 3-month-old Baby Bertha, who is battling a rare congenital condition known as Encephalocele.
JKAiD Hope Foundation has stepped in to fully sponsor the surgery and post-operative care of 3-month-old Baby Bertha, who is battling a rare congenital condition known as Encephalocele.
The intervention follows a report by GHOne TV which highlighted the baby's condition and appealed for urgent financial support. Baby Bertha is currently receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where doctors have recommended immediate surgery.
Encephalocele is a serious birth defect that occurs during pregnancy when part of a baby's brain or surrounding tissue develops outside the skull through an opening that fails to close properly. Medical experts say early surgical intervention is crucial to improving survival and reducing complications.
For Baby Bertha's family, however, the cost of the procedure and treatment was far beyond their means, leaving them in distress and uncertainty.
Touched by the story, JKAiD Hope Foundation responded swiftly by committing to cover the full cost of the surgery and all aftercare treatment, giving the child a renewed chance at life.
From the field
Speaking on the intervention, Executive Director of JKAiD Hope Foundation, Leslie Emegbuonye, reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to supporting vulnerable children and families in need.
"At JKAiD Hope Foundation, we believe every child deserves access to life-saving healthcare, regardless of financial circumstances. The moment we heard Baby Bertha's story, we knew we had to step in and help," he stated.
Baby Bertha's mother expressed deep appreciation to the foundation and everyone who contributed to the appeal.
"We didn't know where help would come from. It has been a very difficult time for us, but today we are grateful. God bless JKAiD Hope Foundation and everyone who supported my child," she said.
With funding now secured, doctors are expected to proceed with the surgery, bringing hope for Baby Bertha's recovery and a healthier future.
